Ride up the Canyon to the entrance of the Zions Narrows hike. A gradual uphill ride calm enough for everyone.
The entire family will enjoy a jaunt up the Canyon. With low traffic, and during the summer only buses and those staying overnight at the lodge are permitted up the Canyon, this is enjoyable to all. The last time we rode our bikes up the Canyon was September of 2009. Most had mountain bikes, but I had my trusty Orbea road bike.

The Park in the springtime reveals colors, shapes, and waterfalls that usually aren't visible during midsummer.
For a more challenging ride, start from the cabin and ride through the park. You will need to wait for a ride at the entrance of the tunne. as there are no bikes allowed through the tunnel. But the Ranger will help you get a ride, usually in the bed of a pickup truck. Once on the other side, descend to the Canyon floor and ride up the Canyon to the turnaround. On your way back stop at a picnic area to fill your water bottles and fuel up before your jaunt back to the cabin. The ride back has a sizeable amount of elevation gain. Once again, at the tunnel, you will need to wait for the Ranger to get you a ride through. Once you return to the cabin you will have gone about 45 miles with 3000ft of elevation gain. It can be challenging during the hot summer, so start early.
Cabin to St. George
For a longer ride and if someone can pick you up in St George, the route from the cabin is a good one. The shoulder of the road leading out of Springdale is wide. It stays that way until after Virgin. Several miles of narrow shoulder two lane road gives way to a fast downhill descent into LaVerkin. From LaVerkin to Hurriance has a good shoulder. Ride towards I-15. Just prior to getting there, turn South on Telegraph. This will take you into Washington. Once there, cross underneath the overpass to get on the frontage road into St. George. This was a great training ride while getting ready for my double.
